About Me

me 2020.jpg

I hold a Post Graduate Certificate in Education (Level 7) from The University of Plymouth, a Professional Diploma in Management (Level 7) from the Open University and a BA (Hons) in English Studies from Ruskin College, Oxford. There that's the academic boasting over.

Before becoming a teacher I worked in retail management, as a project manager for Royal Mail on capital projects, and as a Business Coach working with small businesses and local charities. Since becoming a teacher, I taught at City of Oxford College and as an Associate Lecturer at Oxford Brookes University as well as tutoring online part-time.

I am also a mother and grandmother and know the worries that entail when we want our young ones to succeed. Sometimes we have to find a way to give them a helping hand. Tutoring can be that helping hand and that is why in 2019 I moved to full-time online tutoring and tutor English as well as Business. My students enjoy working with me and normally gain a two grade increase in their expected grade.

I tutor and teach Business.

When tutoring, I support your young person with the work they are struggling with and the work they are covering with their school or college teacher. I also help prepare them for exams.

When teaching, I teach the curriculum appropriate for the exam board and help prepare them for their exams.

Karen got me through my GCSE English after I had failed three times. I liked her approach so much, I got my mum to ask her to help with my Business A Level. I went from a predicted grade D to an actual grade B and got into York University :) Wonderful!
